Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance)
Private insurance sold in standardized lettered plans that pays some of the costs Original Medicare leaves to you, such as the Part B coinsurance and the Part A deductible. During the six months that begin when you are 65 or older and enrolled in Part B, insurers must sell you any policy they offer regardless of health; after that, in most states, they may ask health questions, charge more or refuse. It cannot be combined with a Medicare Advantage plan.
