What this covers
These terms apply to your use of this website: the calculators, the Money Map, The Ledger (articles), the Library, the guides pages, and the optional MoneyVibe account. By using the site you agree to them. The MoneyVibe app, where you can connect financial accounts, has its own terms of service.
Estimates, not advice
PLEASE READEverything on this site is general educational information and illustrative estimates. It is not personalized investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and using it does not create an advisory, fiduciary, or professional relationship between you and MoneyVibe.
Results depend entirely on the numbers you enter and the assumptions each tool states. Projections, including Monte Carlo simulations, describe what could happen under stated assumptions. They are not predictions or guarantees, and past market returns do not guarantee future results. Tax law, rates, and limits change, and your situation may differ from the simplifications we make. Before making a significant financial decision, talk to a licensed professional who knows your circumstances.
Accuracy and sources
We show our formulas, cite dated primary sources, and test our calculation engines against worked examples (see Methodology and Verification). Even so, errors and out-of-date figures can occur. If you spot one, please tell us so we can fix it.
Using the site
- Use it for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Don't scrape it at scale, overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities, or interfere with how it works.
- Don't misrepresent our results as advice from us or from a licensed professional.
- Don't submit someone else's email address to our newsletter form.
- Don't create an account with someone else's email address, or create accounts by automated means.
Your account (optional)
You can use everything on this site without an account. If you create one (free, with your email and a password, or with Google), it keeps your Money Map, reading progress, saved results and bookmarks so they follow you to your other devices. It is the same MoneyVibe account the MoneyVibe app uses; when you use the app, the app's own terms apply there.
- Use an email address you control, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- What the account stores, who can read it (only you), and how it is protected are set out in the privacy policy. We never sell it.
- You can download everything in it, or delete it, at any time from your account page. Deleting it removes it from our database immediately and cannot be undone.
- We may suspend or remove an account used to abuse or attack the service, and we will tell you where we reasonably can. We may also end the account service as a whole; if we do, we will give notice on the site and time to download your data first.
Our content
The site's design, text, articles, and code are ours and protected by copyright. The formulas themselves (compound growth, the 4% rule, tax brackets) are public knowledge and belong to everyone. You may quote a short excerpt of an article with attribution and a link back; please don't republish articles or tool pages wholesale.
Third-party links
We link to sources and other sites for your reference. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices.
No warranty and limits on liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, MoneyVibe is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any losses arising from decisions you make using the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and availability
We may change the site or these terms, or take parts of it offline, at any time. When the terms change we update the date above. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
