Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act (RUFADAA)

A model law, approved by the Uniform Law Commission in 2015 and enacted in some form by most states, that decides when an executor, trustee, agent or guardian may access a person's digital assets. It ranks the account holder's choices: a setting in a service's own online tool comes first, then directions in a will, trust or power of attorney, then the terms of service. The content of messages is disclosed only with the user's consent or a court order.
