Rupee depreciation (against the dollar)

The fall in the rupee's value against the US dollar, measured as the yearly rise in rupees per dollar. On the Federal Reserve's annual averages the rate roughly doubled from 2005 to 2025, about 3.5% a year, with single years ranging from a drop of about 9% to a rise of about 15% in rupees per dollar. It matters only for money that will be converted: rupees kept and spent in India are not shrunk by it.
